Drop Trio - The Allan Smithee Show (my attempt at playing)

Back

Drop Trio: http://magnatune.com/artists/drop_trio This is my attempt at playing The Allan Smithee Show by Drop Trio (Ian Varley, Nino Batista, and Mike Blattel). Unfortunately I don't have Electrik piano so Akoustik piano will have to do... Here's to hoping the sheet music is released some time so I can play it *right*!

Your playing is pretty good, but is that an RD300sx? If so the stock piano of the Roland to my ears sounds way better than any of Akoustik Piano's samples; although I do enjoy their Bechstein D280. The best softsynth piano seems to be Synthogy's Ivory, but if you already have the Roland I don't going to a soft synth.

I'm still looking for a good sample piano. I own Akoustik Piano and TruePianos. I think he used speakers to record the sound, no direct recording within a DAW. Actually it sounds a bit better than on that video (great playing, though), but I don't like it really. TruePianos playability is excellent, but it sounds even worse than AP.

I used a *digital camera* to record this, so sound quality is really bad. I didn't have an amp set up at this point (I have a Roland KC60 now, but the sound quality is astonishingly bad). What do you recommend for a keyboard amp (sub-$1000)?
