Helping the poor is important but space exploration is vital to our long term survival. And that is to all of us, rich, poor, everyone.

You don't understand the importance of space exploration. The goal is to colonize it. Mars particularly, but first at least we must return to the moon. What good will it be to cure cancer if the resources in this planet are already running out? Yes other things are important too but space exp is a life or death issue in the long run.
