Whats certain is the guy she meets and puts in his cell is her partner/hubby. The rest is inferred. Here's what I infer: He was abusive and beat her (and maybe her child). She got the job as a jail warder specifically to be there to put him away (thats how i like to see it) Either way, she made sure she got to walk him in to his "new bed"
