THE OEDIPUS COMPLEX: Scripted Storyboard Theatrical Version!

Back

This is the final theatrical version of the ten minute musical, THE OEDIPUS COMPLEX, that was optioned by the legendary, larger than life theater producer, Joseph Papp and slated to be directed and choreographed by the renowned Broadway masters, Wilford Leach and Graciella Danielle, once upon a dream. The music is by Linda Edlund, and the book, and lyrics come from yours truly. Though Linda played every instrument and sang every part on the original, rock mini-opera recording that can also be found on this site, this version was performed, rather masterfully, by Mike Messer, Larry Purifory, Clare Cooper and Bob Fucaloro. My voice is somewhere on there too, but like lead singer Mike Messer's passing image, you have to be rather astute to find it. I also produced this recording, and did all the art and animation, not for the sake of creating a great cartoon (though you might agree that it's fun to watch), but to show a storyboard of how the piece would play, on a stage. Since the original production went on what turned out to be permanent hold, and since I always had eighteen other ventures to distract me, this little musical has yet to see the light of a live production. If you might be interested in putting it up, you can write to me, and you can find out more information about my life and work, at www.starrplay.com. Of course, I have other short musicals, of my own and of other talented composers and writers, that would fill out an evening in the theatre. And of course, if you have any interest in producing a more professional, ready for prime time animation or live action film, we can talk about that, as well. Many thanks, enjoy, and again, please watch the first, condensed rock and roll mini-opera version of THE OEDIPUS COMPLEX, if only to experience Linda's rather brilliant solo production. This would have been a great production. I love the lyrics. What walks on four legs in the morning? What walks on three legs in the evening...? Thanks for reminding me about this mind-bending, sick and twisted, ancient story. Be sure the check out the original rock opera version too.

Wonderful music and absolutely fabulous lyrics. Learn them and you'll never forget the storyline for Oedipus. More of this genre please!
