Christopher Judge of SG-1 learns about Furries at DragonCon Actor Christopher Judge from Stargate SG-1 asks what furries are when his co-star Michael Shanks mentions being freaked out after encountering a group of them at Dragon*Con. The audience and Michael's wife Lexa Doig explain it to him. His reaction is... hilarious. Taken at Dragon*Con in Atlanta this year, 2007. Transcription of video before cue: Michael Shanks: Although we can stop expressing ourselves at the Furries, I think(a comment drowned out by laughing - sorry!). We can limit the expression right before then. Lexa Doig: Michael just learned about them last night. Christopher Judge: What are furries? Michael Shanks: I'll tell ya later. Christopher Judge: Makes mention of something like "is it like gay porn or something". Michael Shanks: Beep (I think he was trying to censore Chris at this point) Audience Member 1: That's called slash. Christopher Judge: What is it? What is it? (He wants to know about Furries still, but the audience member - I think - was confused and thought he was asking about the definition of slash). (Cue video) Audience Member 1: Slash is gay fanfiction. Chris says something that's drowned out by many people talking, and Lexa (I think it was her, anyway) chimes in with the comment that Furries are anthropomorphics. Alexis Cruz: Do we have a Furry rep here? That could give us a tutorial? Me: Don't look at the girl in the ears. I just like the ears. Christopher Judge: What is that? Michael Shanks: Just...just...shhhhh. Furry 1: People in furry suits! Michael Shanks: I'll tell ya later. Furry 1: People in suits! FURSUITS!!! Christopher Judge: No, seriously? Audience Member 2: Someone tell him. I want to see his expression, please? (meaning Chris'...boy did she get her wish!) Michael Shanks: Damn, man. Furry 1: They dress up like animals. Audience Member 4: You started it (meaning Michael was the one who brought up Furries). Christopher Judge: They dress up like animals? Audience Member 3: You can whisper in his ear. Michael Shanks: I started it, but he doesn't have to finish it! *smacks table* You could've just left it to die on the floor. Michael says something that got lost in the general noise, then says "Children" which makes Chris wonder what that has to do with what Lexa just told him. Christopher Judge: What's wrong...why can't a kid hear about people wearing animal suits? *Gets a definition about what a furry is* Christopher Judge: What?!?!?!? Lexa Doig: Haven't you seen the episode of CSI? Christopher Judge: What?!?!?!? Christopher Judge: What?!?!?!? (yes, he's said it yet a third time) Michael Shanks: That's right, ladies and gentlemen, you've offended Christopher Judge. Christopher Judge: (incredulous) And I've never done it? (kind of garbled, but I think he then says) Where do you get the suits?! Christopher Judge: Are you serious? (pause) What?!?!? Lexa Doig: Don't you watch CSI? When there was a (the) 'show'?(then asking the crowd) Did you see the show devoted to the furries? *people yell from the crowd* Yeah, see! I don't know what season it is, but you can get it on DVD, it'll explain everything. (For those of you unfamiliar with it, it's called "Fur and Loathing" in season 4) Michael Shanks: I am so sorry for starting this. And then Marcia, the panel moderator, decided it was time to end this train of thought and asked Vanessa a new question.

...furries are what's wrong with the planet? Okay, furries freak me out a little (I'm sorry furries, I realize this is totally my issue and it's nothing against you, it's more of a people in costumes thing) but implying that furries are evil, dirty, or subhuman as a whole is just stupid. Most furries are normal, productive members of society like anyone else, and you wouldn't even know that they were one unless they told you. WindowsRG, you're the subhuman one.

in all honesty, some furries are actually REALLY fucked up... and yes, i am a furry. a few from a handful of furries think that their fetish is a race, and they think it's a whole lot better than the human race. I'm not trying to say "HATE FURRIES, LOL" but most of the furries i know are just regular people that just get turned on by a different type of porn. That's what i'm like, lol. so there you go, you now officially understand the whole furry fandom (Y)

Either this is a rehearsed skit, or the submitter got the video from somewhere else. I distinctly remember seeing this exact conversation live at San Diego ComicCon in 2005.

I want to state that I respect your theories, and they seem really plausible. But it just doesn't apply to every single person. Personally, I'm a furry. Now, I'm a very friendly and open person about it. I love going to large anime cons and love anime. While I've (regretably) never been to a furry convention, I hear they're fun. I don't like getting into this whole war because it seems really stupid to me, but I want it to end. I've personally never bashed other people for their likes.
