Albert Camus. L'étranger. Page 1: Aujourdhui, maman est morte. Ou peut-être hier, je ne sais pas. Jai reçu un télégramme de lasile : "Mère décédée. Enterrement demain. Sentiments distingués." Cela ne veut rien dire. Cétait peut-être hier. (Pour la suite... ouvrez le roman!)

no it isn't! It is based on a 1920s existentialist novel by Albert Camus called l'estranger. Its about a guy who murders an arab (Camus wrote a lot based in Algeria) and it explores aspects of conscience and morality. A lot of people get the wrong end of the stick with this song. In fact Rob Smith is a supporter of Amnesty and gets tired of having to defend this AWESOME song! (its a good book by the way, though I prefer the Plague).
