Progressive very much just is a label to give music that doesn't fit the typical characteristics of whatever the root music of it is. Protest are progressive. BTBAM are very, very much a progressive metal band. Dream Theater brought progressive metal to the masses somewhat. Dream Theater are very good at what they do, but just because a band is focused heavily on theory, length of movements, and "musicianship" does not grant them leadership over another. BTBAM is progressive. Period.

Actually they've been doing it for more than 20, seeing as they had their 20th anniversary tour a few years ago.
