KCPQ shut down it's 10:00 PM newscast in 1986 from it's Lakewood location, but would return in January 1998 from it's new Lake Union headquarters. Q13, along with KONG-TV, (which simulcasts KING's broadcasts) are now the only players at ten o'clock. KSTW also shut down newscasts in 1998, simular to KCPQ's in 1986.

That generic "military" slide, complete with soldier traipsing through the rice paddies, at 00:45 is a small reminder that the Vietnam War was still pretty recent history in 1983. The walkout at the Pan-Am games dates this clip at Aug. 23, 1983.

If Don Knotts and Walter Kronkite had a baby, they would have Bill Oltman.
