As a smoker, it both annoys me and pleases me that we have to stay away from non-smokers in the UK. Except, you lucky French gits sometimes get places inside where you can smoke! We just have to go outside. Some people's voices survive though, I mean I guess it's just luck at the end of the day.

There is no doubt that smoking is bad for you, but then again so is cheese burgers and fries. I don't smoke but when i hear people trying to tell people what to think or do makes me sick. Most artist smoke. So stop blowing smoke up my ass.

I've been listening to Portishead for almost 13 years now. And you're right, when we were listening to our regular genure of music (Rage,Tool,NIN, Minstry)...people were always just as happy when someone put on a Portishead album. I think it was the drugs? lol

The only thing about her smoking, is that is used to give her a very special voice. But know, her voice has juste died - to my opinion. Whether people smoke or not is their choice, really. The issues are now mainly personnal, especially here in France where smokers are parked in tiny "smokers areas" or outside.
