The Importance of a 5 Point Harness Car Seat - Belle's Gift
BackOur three year old daughter was killed in a car accident on 13 April 2006. A truck crossed over the centre lines and our vehicle hit a tree when trying to avoid a collision with the truck. Our seven year old walked away from the crash, but Isabelle was fatally injured by the adult seatbelt used with her booster seat. There were no warnings about the dangers involved in using adult belts with toddlers. The law in Australia allows children as young as 12 months to use only an adult belt. This is manslaughter through poor legislation. If Belle was wearing a 5 point harness she would never have sustained these injuries and she would now be a happy, healthy four year old. We have set up a website in Belle's honour at http://isabelle-broadhead.memory-of.com and a discussion board at http://www.isabelle-paige.com/phpbb2

I'm very sorry for your loss; I lost my mom almost two months ago now and she absolutely loved children, so I know my mom is protecting your precious daughter (she was absolutely beautiful, by the way)

Thank you for this video. I have sent it to a few people today alone who wanted to put their 3 year olds in boosters. I am so sorry for your loss.
B/c I saw this video a year ago, I knew I would keep my son restrained in a harness. He is now 4 and still restrained in a harness.
You are helping make other children safe.

I am sorry for your loss. You had no reasonable way of knowing. Thank you for sharing and saving lives.
The safest type of restraint is a 5 point belt. This goes for EVERYONE. Race car drivers use 5 point belts. After-market 5 point harnesses are readily available and are fairly easy to install.
All free people must also consider events like this when visiting the polls.

im so sorry for your loss.
i live in the uk and harnessed seats only go up to 4 years of age but most kids i know have moved on to booster seats before then. there is only 1seat available in the uk which harnesses past 40 pounds but it is hugely expensive but i will be looking to get one for my son - even if it means importing one from the US.
its lives that matter - not laws.
