When I was 17 I was called Elaine by a musical arranger cause I knew who she was. There is no one like Elaine....

CON'T (3) Brando went on to stonewall her for the next year or so, despite the fact that they had to work together as part of the same theatre group. He (sadly) had a way of simply ejecting people from his life that disappointed him, or did not meet his needs. The story she tells of his later apology (with the crushing of th Manhattan glass) is true: she burst into tears then, as well.

CON'T (which pretty much every girl he knew actually did: this is what Stritch is tactfully referring to when she says that every girl in the class had "dated" Marlon. She isn't kidding). When it became clear she wouldn't, Brando walked her to the door, and wished her good-night. She had to bus it home at three in the morning

Ok. It was neither a), b) or c). Stritch, being a good catholic girl of seventeen at the time was (by the time she got back to the apartment with Marlon) in almost a state of shock, having just been taken to her first (and by all accounts, quite a low-rent) strip club. Marlon, whose sexual adventures of the time are renowned, seemed to anticipate Stritch jumping into bed with him ).

This is probably one of the funniest shows I have ever seen - Stritch is simply the best...I wish I could be under her tutelage, I LOVVVEEE the styles of the olden days. Thanks for posting this!

I really wish someone would "explain" this story to me! What's the deal? Was he rude to her after they went out because: a) the cat went out the window when she opened it because she didn't understand what a cat in heat meant; b) he came out of the bathroom in his pajamas because he wanted to go to sleep and didn't intend on taking her home; c) he came out of the bathroom in his pajamas, they had sex and twenty minutes later she left? Explanation, anyone?
