I watched Guiding Light for a short period (1989-1992) but I totally agree that Roger Thorpe was the absolute best villain ever on a daytime drama. I wonder if Bill Bell was trying to create his own Roger when Eric Braeden joined the cast of Y&R in 1980 as Victor Newman (coincidentally only a few months prior to Michael Zaslow's departure from Guiding Light), although Victor is a church mouse compared to Roger.
