Nato says it has made significant advances against the Taliban in recent months particularly in the country's violent Helmand province. There reconstruction projects have started in an attempt to cement military advances and establish a degree of stability in the region. But as Al Jazeera's Hamish Macdonald found in the Sangin Valley, the reality is that security remains a distant hope for most of the people in Helmand province.

The UK Armed Forces need to work a LOT harder!. Its so humiliating for the british public not being able to win a desisive victory against a 'THIRD WORLD' rusty gun and sandles raghead platoon in afganistan! Our lads have the highest technology and the help of American forces, Five looong years and still no final victory in site!. Can it get any more SHAMEFULL and HUMILIATING than that??? It would suck bad to be a civillian Afghan. The Taliban would tell you to support them,if you don't they might kill you. The British/Americans also tell you to support them,if you don't,you could be accused of being a terrorist
