Disney's Mars & Beyond 3 of 6 - History of Life on Earth/Solar System

Back

How life on Earth evolved & how it might relate to how it would evolve on the other planets. Similar to the prehistoric episode in Fantasia, yet goes beyond it, to space! Rare Walt Disney Space series from 1957, speculating about Mars. Remember, almost 50 years ago, only Sputnik had gone up 2 months earlier!

As old as this is, it's still fairly accurate.

we think of life in comparison with our earth, but really life could be anywhere even if our science says no, and complicated life is only a stroke of luck. If the dinosaurs hadnt died out we wouldnt be alive, but a an astroid that hit the changed that, and the chances of complicated life out there are slim, but i believe that there can BE Life ANYWHERE.

You people are going to seriously debate a Disney cartoon? you guys hear of infotainment... bullshit documentaries are you guys going to fight about the emperical validity of Charlie the lonsome Cougar... or may be engange in a rousing discussion about elephentine aerodynamics and the elemental properties of the magic feather... This is 50's retro-camp at its best... thats it. NOt educational not particularly informative. Just entertaining and Kitchy

This is bullshit. Carbon > Protein. Protein + elements n stuff = life Right.... So far every experiment to try and create life out of non-life or create data to prove the theory has been unsuccessful. Right now the something out of nothing theory is just a theory, not a fact.

So basically, you're saying what, that since we lack the experimental model, That it's not how it happened? It's a seriously good guess and at the moment that's the best we've got, sort of speculating in voodoo or superstitions. Besides which , while at present we don't have an experimental model for thought, but I'm pretty sure it happens.

Well i have a different theory as to how life got here. Its proven bacteria can remain in the most harsh of environments. Even some can be frozen solid then upon heat reactivated and turned alive. Im pretty sure life started either in some exotic location and/or by some "being" far away, and amongst the asteroids and meteors that fall down to earth and the bacteria sprung up. At the moment i just find the current explanation to be far from proven.

but regardless of what i believe the "life out of non-life" theory just falls apart when taken under scrutiny. This might just be an old documentary but whatever the case alot of things in there are bs. Like the "life zone". What the hell is that all about? There is no such thing. Yes, its not too hot not too cold but if it was a little bit hotter or a little bit colder it wouldnt make earth uninhabitable. This is just scare tactics at its finest. Sometimes these things go a little too far.

Considering the limited amount of knowledge we actually have in hand, we can't REALLY say a whole lot, basically I try to constrain my beliefs to what we know, but also it's possible to conjecture without getting totally lost in the process. For example, Michiu Kaku's discussion of type 0,1,2 & 3 civilizations is quite compelling and very much along the lines of something like the fiction of Orions' Arm. /watch?v=V7FVjATcqvc

That is absolutely incorrect. Using only water, an electrical charge to simulate lightning, and a closed atmosphere artificially recreating the composition that existed during the late Hadean eon, amino acids formed in the sample of water within a few days. That means that in conditions similar to earth at that point, organic composition like ours WILL happen. Whether or not it lasts as long as us is an entirely different issue.
