Is there some literature where I can find out more on the concept of "worship the spiratal part of what the idols meen"?
Are you saying, the idol is just an idol/symbol without divine spirit being "in" it?
...In which case I ask, why would it be necessary to keep an idol at the place of worship then?
Or does the spirit actually reside within the idol, thus necessitating the presence of the idol at the place of worship?
...In which it seems God can be confined in stone and wood, etc. hmmm

I think the reason they keep idols in the place of worship is the same reason that christains have crosses in churches.

You may be right, but we really cannot know until they give the explanation in their own words. Thanks anyway. :-)

It is similar to Catholics who have statues to remind and to help them to focus on prayer. They do not worship the statue, but rather the God that it represents. And similar to how Catholics worship the saints as holy persons, Hindus venerate statues as one of the many manifestations of Brahman. It is like a focussing method to connect to the spiritual world.
