The West was quick to name former-Soviet moves as examples of Communist aggression, but when the West does the same thing, it is never characterized as Capitalist aggression. Yet, that's what it was, and that's what it is. The US practices predatory capitalism, hiding behind lies like democracy and human rights. Read the book "Overthrow" Same stuff here only a little more in depth. The goal is not to spread democracy, but capitalism.

That is John Perkins, a former 'Economic hitman" and yes its possible. This is video from a documentary called Zeitgeit Addendum. He also wrote a book called Confessions of a former Ecomnomic Hitman. Look them up, and learn more.
