Pretty sure I was at Ta Prohm, Siem Reap, when I saw them. They weren't openly begging like the others following you around

Thats true, some work and still dont even have enough to feed themselves let alone their family. Kampuchea has become a nation of beggers because they are neglected by the gov. Not enough jobs, no land, no medical care, nothing.

This was one trip that brought tears to my eyes 2 months ago. This is no reason to avoid Cambodia, but it is not a relaxing vacation destination to put it lightly. I was looking for adventure and found it though it felt risky and frightening traveling on land via Aran/Poipet and then a Toyota to Siem Reap down the undeveloped highway (sealing the road is less than half completed though in process) as corruptions run rampant in the country. The leadership take all in this country...

The only real help these people get are from outside organisations. My main concern are for the future and well-being of the young children. If their safety and health are not guaranteed, the continuation of a Khmer nation is nonexistent.
