Tom Waits crafted this beutiful song and did a much better version of it. Bruce just cashed it in for money. The real artist is Waits. Honestly, listen to Waits sing it and this just seems passionless.

That's a really ignorant comment. Bruce has enormous respect for Waits. They have performed the song on stage together. There is no bigger complement than to be covered by Springsteen, who has probably written more great music over the last 36 years than anyone. As for money, Springsteen doesn't make a penny by performing it. Waits receives royalties. Bruce brought Waits to the attention of many, many people who had not heard of him. It's just stupid to suggest Waits is being exploited.
