Clare is unique. His harmonies are sublime, perhaps understad by very few people. He is at the top of a pyramid of talent. I wish him a long life and hope we will be able to enjoy his cluster chords for many years to come.

I thought (until I did some digging) that "she" was a phenomenal arranger ("Clare", you see! Duh on my part for assuming!) I was so taken by the string arrangement on a song called "You Push Me Away" on the album "DESTINY" by, of ALL people, The JACKSONS!!! I read the liner notes. Guess what? String arrangement: CLARE FISCHER! It's a ststely, sweeping thing of beauty!

I was honored to meet Clare and his wife Donna, as well as his son Brent and wife at the Vibrato Grill in Los Angeles in late November 2007 for the "Clare Fischer Big Band." The band featured Clare, with Brent conducting, and such notables as Gary Foster, Don Shelton, Gene Cipriano, Steve Hufstetter, and Ron Stout...What a great venue!! Just off Mulholland. Bill Dobbins has said that Clare is the most significant jazz composer since Duke Ellington...what a genius--and gentleman!
