i agree with you except for the opinion you have about Angela Gheorghiu. Now, in my opinion she is the best.

To me she is not THE BEST simply because when I compare singers like Gheorghiu, Netrebko, Bartoli etc I can only say they are very different but what I can`t say is who is better. They are all just marvellous!

You are right. "The new Callas" is just a cliche, but used as a superlative. More like "the best singer now". And Angela is the best. Her resonantic, deep, and pure timbre makes her unique. Her interpretations are flawless. It is a rare quality that only a few opera singers had it. Really angelic.
