Floyd was good for its generation. That generation went on to become everything it was against: money-hungry, fat and lazy. Deftones represented something for the late 90's that very few bands were able to touch on... not being image-obsessed or stuck in a narrow scene, but able to make powerfully creative music that spoke to the youth and spanned different styles of alternative music. Even today, they get mad respect.
