Nick Heyward - Whistle Down the Wind

Back

Haircut 100 seemed poised for mega-stardom just as Heyward decided to seek a solo career. The remainder of the band tried to continue with the album Paint and Paint (1984, with percussionist Marc Fox successfully taking over Heyward's vocal duties), but they broke up soon after. Nick Heyward has enjoyed a modestly successful solo career since leaving the band, beginning with the 1983 album North Of A Miracle, which produced Heyward's first solo hit, "Whistle Down The Wind", and continuing with Postcards From Home (1986) and the somewhat disjointed I Love You Avenue (1988).

He is so gorgeous, listening to this song makes me so happy and brings back the brill 80's memories. I bought his album in the 80's and played it constantly, now have on CD - thank you Nick for being a super, sexy singer x

Really wonderful theme. I listened to this song for first time in the Hughes's film "Sixteen Candles". Just a little excerpt at the school dance was enought to be taken with this song. Deep melody, deep strings. Great video. Thanks for posting it !

I love the bassline too, I just love the key the song is written in, and the string section brings such a wistfullness to the song. I swear I was born in the wrong decade, most of the bands I love where defunct by the time I discovered them!
