This was a night of historical dimensions! Singing of the highest caliber. Artistry of unearthly perfection. Oh, if only I could have been there that night !!! Unforgettable!

Sensational! The wind actually added an air of authenticity to the theatricality of the usual productions. The singing, particularly of Caballe, was amazing. Agostino Ferrin is one of the most overlooked of basso singers in the Italian repertoire, the equal of the legends -Pinza & Pasero; Vickers & Veasey were equally inspired. Thank you Onegin 65. I have a 1955 DVD with Callas; del Monaco & Simionato, conducted by Antonino Votto, which I always thought could not be bettered. This is my No.2.

She was the best and this video proves it, the sound its recorded in mono audio, in a very windy night in a open theatre and you can't believe your ears, you can't believe someone can sing like this and move you to tears.

What a gift - Caballe in her prime! One of my favorite singers. I'll never forget the first time I heard that voice!
