Aljazeera International, 17 June 2008 Despite pledges by Israeli officials to stop settlement construction, the construction continues with nearly 2,000 additional settlement housing units announced since the Annapolis Conference in November 2007. The settlements in the OPT violate a number of international legal norms, and their illegality has been recognised by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and several United Nations (UN) resolutions. They are a flagrant violation of Article 49(6) of the Fourth Geneva Convention, which prohibits an Occupying Power from transferring parts of its civilian population into occupied territory. Al-Haq addresses the issue of continued settlement expansion on Al-Jazeera International's "Inside Story."

Condoleeza tries to dodge the issue as usual, because she knows the US are powerless to do anything. Because of the jewish lobby in the US, she would be politically dead the minute she undertook anything for real against settlements. It is up to us, people from democratic developed countries to take the issue to our governments and above all stop buying any goods made in Israel. Buying israeli goods supports Israeli crimes, including settlements.

i am not going to debate the issue at hand. interviewing 3 people: all of which have the same view on the subject, gives a distorted image of the majority opinion of the people they represent, and goes directly against journalistic objectivity.

Let me be clear I am a American. A former U.S.M.C. rifleman and some of us Americans do read books! sadly though, not all of us inform our selfs....past what is spued to us over the air waves. Kermit Roosevelt, Jr. was the mastermind of the CIA Operation Ajax, which orchestrated the coup against Mohammed Mossadegh in Aug 1953 to regain the oil supplies. And Bush is just one in a LONG line of U.S. Presidents that have poured money and military equiptment into Israel.

Britain should have never pulled out of the Middle East, they should have instead colonized it and eradicated or enslaved the muslims. It seems when we left the muslims alone they turned out to be little more civilized than the blacks in Africa. Look at how pleasant those countries are now.. I gues the moral here is some civilizations need to be policed constantly or destroyed. Left alone they just start wars. Bush may be a moron but destroying the muslims is good for Earth.

You are right. It was Muslims who overthrew Mossadegh, the democratically elected leader of Iran and installed a brutal tyrant, it was Muslims who attacked Iraq killing 1.3 million people, causing 2.5 million Iraqi refugees (the worst refugee crisis in human history according to the UNHRC), and causing so much destruction that the Israeli reporter Ari Rosen described the invasion as more brutal than the Mongols. It was Muslims who then forced Iraq to give no bid contracts to BP and Chevron.

Bush destroyed everything. He ruined a 30 year old American policy that kept things in human manor and stable. Then Bush came and Completely supported Israel and neglecting his own people, and forget there is people called Palestinians. before him the American policy always tried to equal between Israel and Palestine. Now he came and preached in the Knesset and contradicted him self 5 times. Sarkozy, contradicted him self 2 times.
