pay and etc get a life it is funny are you trying to say we should never offend anyone during comedy if so we would be left with about 12 jokes in the world

surely they'd only be offended if they actually killed someone?
you should learn what a joke is.

EtcEtcAndEtc is right on the matter. ( I never heard John Bull before, but whatever)
Satire is always offensive, laughable or not for the person/race in question.

well that ventriloquist does have many satirical puppets. you cant just slag one off without ignoring the others just cos this one happens to sting you in particular. he isnt a sinister, hating man. hes making the best out of a shitty situation. ie laughing at evil. people have done it so many times before and will continue to do so.

I was being glib about Achmeds in particular. I think anyone would be justified in finding it offensive; I did.
Reasons are:
Achmed is a stereotypical muslim name, like John Bull for a christian.
The broken English - "I kill you".
Why call him Achmed in this climate of fear about islam? I think it's playing on an ignorant stereotype linking the name Achmed - Islam - murdering ghouls.
It is presented as an innocent cartoon, but there's a worrying political and cultural undercurrent, I feel.

Why call him Achmed [etc]? It's about a muslim... It's satire. Have you even seen it?

Why on earth would they be offended?
