I have observed for 30 minutes but all they want to do is find a way out of the chamber. i know theres also the factor of age where 3-7 day old flies only fight, but can u help to elicit aggressiveness in these flies? i need to be able to quick because i need to take trials soon. thank you.

i put 8 single male flies in 8 separate and EMPTY vials without food so that they would starve for a while as motivation to fight. After about 7 hours of no food, i unleash two random ones onto a similar fighting arena as the experiment used with a food cup with the same cornmeal medium.

ive been following this expirement but i need help. I got vials of wild-type drosophila melanogaster from Carolina reared on cornmeal medium. I tried to get this type of aggression for my experiment where im adding an ssri as a variable to see if it affects the aggressiveness of these flies, but they havent been very aggressive at all.

This was probably the most amusing fly battle I ever saw. It's interesting that the fly just get pushed off rather than once they reach the edge, they fly away and come back.
