Kournikova was 2nd only to Hingis for talent. She had amazing court coverage and speed, but lacked a bit of mental strength when it mattered. That is pretty normal in women's tennis where many of the players choke when serving for the match under pressure. Kournikova also had a terrible time with injuries and her confidence took a knock towards the end of her career as witnessed by the collapse of her once strong serve! Don't forget that she was a champion in doubles and far from rubbish!

I kept hearing that anna never won a singles match, but I have watched her tennis videos, and she is like a cat playing with a mouse. Too bad she retired at 26. Don't care if she wins or not just like to watch her play...

Surely you mean she never won a singles TITLE! The closest she came was when she bashed up Venus Williams at Indian Wells right up to the point she had to serve for the match. I don't think she ever fully recovered mentally from her failure to convert that match.

great match from anna here. she shows all of her great qualities and that she was comfortable in every part of the court. her bh angles, fh dropshots and running fh's are sublime. the shot at 3:02 is genius that only anna could create.

Both played brilliantly. Kournikova wasn't all glitz and looks with no substance. Her tennis spoke volumes as well. Can't understand why she failed to win even 1 pro title. And thanks so much for the editing. It's great to see only all the winners that the girls hit in the match.

No one ever said she was an awe inspiring talent, but she wasn't terrible
