1972 ... 2nd grade, PS 213 in Queens, NY ... we went to the Bayside Theater (long since gone) to see this as part of a field trip. William Daniels will definitely always be John Adams regardless, and no one else comes close. (Stamp Acts ... Townsend Acts ... Sugar Acts ... TEA ACTS!) - long live the anger and intensity.

I went back then as a class trip, too! With my High school history class.

Our dear framers are rolling in their graves to see what has become of the beautiful groundwork they laid for us. sigh. The USA is a mess...where is Thomas Jefferson? At least we have RON PAUL!

I love this musical! I was in it last summer for the 4th of July in my hometown. I was the leatherapron, but I had to go onstage for someone else once. I played John Adams when the actor wasn't there for the rehearsals, it was so much fun!!!!!!!!

I am glad that you got to do that. It sounds like you had a good experience doing the play.

a friend of my mother's played the part of Martha Jefferson in this musical's first national touring company in the early 1970's. we have a picture of her in costume somewhere at our house.
