this how illegal immigration issue is pretty ironic. The usa belonged to the indians. people came from europe/spain/england/ and took it by force and established their own country and laws.Look at texas, it belonged to mexico, but americans settled down and out of the blue they decided, that it was theirs now & took it by force.

Arisveth: So you think it's OK for the Mexicans to "steal" the land from native Americans. The fact is that the land was held by both Americans and Mexicans. The dispute was settled with the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. I find your comparison somewhat dishonest. Apparently you think it is okay for Mexico to "steal" the land from native Americans. I think comparing the US purchase of the land from Mexico to stealing is somewhat dishonest and fascist.

first of all the Mexicans don't steal the land when they come over to the usa to work for a living, second of all let me give you some little known facts, the usa stole the land from mexico. the usa government pointed a gun at santa anna and made him sign the land over to the usa after they defeated him in the war.The american government knows it, the usa gains more by letting the illegal aliens cross the border, than stopping them.

Arisveth: You know very little about history, you have a lot of rhetoric and hypocrisy. Only an idiot would take what I said out of context the way you did. I wasn't talking about the illegal immigrants "stealing" land from the native Americans it was the Mexican government that was "stealing" the land from the Native Americans. That's where some of your hypocrisy is.
Schemefighter (Saturday 22nd of March 2008 05:18:22 PM)
Arisveth: When the US does the same thing you call it "stealing", however you dishonestly tried to dodge the issue when I pointed out the Mexican government did the same thing.
Another part of the hypocrisy is the US is only trying to limit and monitor immigration it's not trying to totally stop it. Where as in 1830 Bustamante outlawed the immigration of United States citizens to Texas.

Arisveth: Another lot you make is "the usa stole the land from mexico"
Texas (similarly to many others) succeeded from Mexico and was a sovereign nation for about 10 years, the end of which the majority of voters in Texas voted to join the United States. The US paid $15 million and forgave 3 million to Mexico to settle the disputed territory with the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo.
Schemefighter (Saturday 22nd of March 2008 05:19:29 PM)
Arisveth: The US also paid Mexico $10 million for the Gadsden Purchase. When Santa Anna abolished the Mexican Constitution, many territories disputed the legitimacy of the Mexican government. The new government was supposed to unite Mexico, however many residents and territories refused to recognize the new government.

Arisveth: Another way that you're lying and showing hypocrisy. Is that many of the illegal aliens are stealing US land. Many of the illegal aliens, illegally live on land that they did not purchase or rent. It's called squatting. The illegal aliens do an incredible amount of property damage with litter, urine, feces, crop damage, stealing firewood, setting fires, ect.. while they are squatting.

Remittacenses comming from mexican emigrants are stuck on the same level in the last 2 years.. which is losing importance for mexican economy compared to the 35% increase in wages of the poorest 20% in the last 6 years

foreign investment coming from US is now -25% compared to what it was back in 2000. actually it remains the same since 1998. By the other hand investments coming from the European Union has grown 146% compared to what it was back in year 2000.
Conclusion, Mexico is growing in spite of US
