Actually, your comparison doesn't work. Moby Dick is miles above any "latest thriller" in all senses: writing, themes, characterizations, style, influence, implications, etc. the older comics are very badly written, have very rudimentary characterizations and very simplistic plot lines...much like a "thriller" that you would get at your local grocery store. The more recent comics are simply better, no question about it.

Current comics are not "simply better." There is some great stuff in those old crazily written four color books and there is a lot of utter crap being put out by the big two these days. Opinions to be sure. The point I was trying to make was that one must always take historical context into consideration when reading a work of literature (however ephemeral). I do agree with your assertion that Moby Dick is superior to most of the US output today. Ever read Robinson Crusoe though?

Hey Alex, don't do videos drunk. Got it? Good.
Okay, the reason this story isn't any better is because Iron Man and Tony Stark aren't interesting characters. Michiline was a simplistic writer. the thing that this run interesting was JRJR's art. Pure and simple.
Stay sober from now on, okay.

Look, the guys an adult, if he wants to drink he can, he doesn't have to do the show, he chooses to. I don't know why people keep going on about the guys drinking on the show either.
Keep it up alex, most of us appreciate you taking the time to do the show.
Cheers

Ha. Just FYI, I was joking about recording this drunk; even the drinking on the regular show is just little sips. Except for Pete. He has a serious problem... But we should be able to solve it over night.

I always thought Pete had a problem (its the anger in the eyes, you cannot hide that kind of rage). You should have a special intervention episode, utilising the Tony Stark method. However I just realised that I am making light of a disease that millions of people suffer from, I should hold my head in shame.

I totally agree. Other then things that couldn't be helped, like Alfred not being the father figure he was retconned to be, Neil Adams and Denny o'Neils work has stood the test of time. It's not "the Greatest ever" but it stands the test of time and still is enjoyable to read.

Well I'll be fair. It was a young medium and Jack and Lee had lil' to learn from, but the writing style was horrible. guys like Moore and others had their works to grow and evolve with.
