I am impressed in art by deeds, not words. RR flaps his gums a lot here to justify his little useless stunt. Kinda lot Art Forum, a lot of pointless talk. Picasso said painters should have their tongues cut out, and RR would do well to comply. Just show me one painting or drawing by Rauschenberg that you would call "great". I've seen a lot of his work, and have yet to see a single example that measures up to deKooning. An artist only needs 1 masterpiece, but RR has never done it.

Wrong on both counts. First of all I never made your first suggestion. And your second statement is completely fabricated: your idea not mine. Educated people can like Rauschenberg too, but if they think he is a great artist, they clearly need additional education and they need to spend a lot more time studying art. I suggested that he was trying to gain notice by attaching himself, like a gadfly, to the coattails of a much greater artist, and I stand by that. It was a cheap stunt.
