They're genius, and I can prove it scientifically. I believe music isn't as subjective as you would like to think. Bash me all you want, all of you "it's all personal preference" people, but music is mechanical, and the structuring and composing of a song requires knowledge of musical theory and mechanics. One who understands this more than another, and is able to apply it to actual music, is, by definition, a better musician/composer than one who can't do it as well.

ok, I just can't refuse this. Have you heard of the beatles? Jimmy Hendrix? Just to name a few really popular artists with talent(don't worry I won't try to convince anyone that they should love their sounds/songs (it's preference remember?) They couldn't read music, nor did they ever study musical theory or mechanics(whatever the hell that has to do with songwriting or anything that anyone cares about) SO GO BLOW A GOAT. :D (you wanted me to bash you for being an idiot)

Paul McCartney could read music, and can read music, and Jimi Hendrix did have musical training, although he didn't use it very well since all he did was up and down minor pentatonic 12 bar bull shit. Even if you were telling the truth, it wouldn't prove anything, because Arcade Fire are still more original, innovative, and well thought out in their song writing than Jimi Hendrix ever was. How the fuck could you even make that comparison? A blues/rock guitarist and Arcade Fire.... hmmm, idiot.

Such an excellent tune. I've heard that the lyrics are a shot at guys like Joe Simpson and his "Producer parent" type, these people that run their kids through a heartless, materialistic and exploitive industry.
