Glacier Surfing Alaska

Back



World champion big wave surfers, Garrett McNamara and Kealii Mamala rode into surfing history last week when they towed into a monster tsunami created by Child's Glacier in South-Central Alaska. The creator/producer, Ryan Casey, "disovered" the wave in 1995, while on location shooting in Alaska. Then after finishing his last film, Quest, a documentary on big wave surfing, he showed Garrett the wave... that was six months ago. I will make this simple! Most of you posting live in the lower 48,never been in front of a glacier,or Alaska where this took place! I go out to this place often. It is called Childs glacier! Its front breaks off "often, on its own" from the strong current of the huge copper river, which undercuts it's front, and makes it unstable! Then it breaks off, "on it's own"! Get it??????????????? Some of you have breathed to much smog down there!

ya i went to Alaska over the summer and saw some glaciers nothing that big broke off but some chunks did it was awesome Alaska rocks

hellfireorigionalfucktard! I live here in Cordova Alaska,where this took place! It is called childs glacier! It breaks off on its own, you ignorant fuck! I go see it often to watch it! The Copper river undercuts its front,so it breaks off often! Nothing new! Been going on for thousands of yrs! You ignorant fuck!
