Jascha Heifetz plays Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto: 1st mov.

Back

Jascha Heifetz plays Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 35: I. Allegro moderato *NOTE: This was from a movie, so Heifetz skips a LOT of the first movement due to time constraints. He skips nearly half of the piece, and so does the orchestra. So please don't ask for second or third movements because I do not have them. You also get to see a bit of Heifetz acting at the end. A great treat! Conductor: Fritz Reiner This is my favorite rendition of the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto. I think Heifetz played a bit faster than in his recording.

maybe the speed is because of the different frame rate of old movies. anyway, great performance! I almost understand the lady.!

well i would assume if someone who practiced everyday for 8hrs, since he was 5 years old would be perfect at the violin. Though i never heard him play, but there is known to be a little recording of him playing, and only a couple of people heard him play, and those people said he was better than any violinist who ever lived.

about 2:02-2:08 anyone have any idea how he shifts that fast at that tempo? i could get it at quarter note 80 and i nearly dropped the violin when i tried playing it at his speed...any suggestions?

and how do you know that paganini played it perfectly? exactly, you can't know. paganini might've been able to play it well enough to impress people back then, but it's pretty safe to assume that the standards back in paganini's time are no where near what they are today.

he's saying that paganini would probably be worse. it's only natural that as time progresses, standards rise.

just to tell you, he still has the record for the 2 minute stroke with only one bow. If anyone can break it, I would like to see them try. You need to have perfect sound without breaking any noise with your bow. Knowing Heifetz still has that record, I think he's still amazing even though he is gone. SADFACE. =(
