not sure but this song seems to pop into my head driving along, fan of many different styles and types of music but this song seems to stick out more than the others

I missed this clip, the last time I saw this was almost 20years ago. One of the classic pop tunes of all time. You can see here just how versatile is the great Quincy Jones is. He wears many kinds of hat in the music industry for the last 6 decades. Thanks n keep posting.

Wow! Anyone who can sing like that live is just plain awesome. Not too many of those around these days.

What floors me about recordings such as this are the rhythm sections that back these great performers. The bassist, drummer and pianist on this performance are paralleling Ingram's passion and intensity, albeit behind the scenes. I get chills listening to the bass player's lines over this - especially over the bridge of the tune (C section). Beyond the countless jazz and r&b studio recordings that inhabit my collection, its recordings such as these that influence me the most as a musician:)

This ensemble is what the y mean by "players," singer included. This song is also the theme for the greatest 80's movie ever, "The Last American Virgin."
