this match quality was a joke! Arantxa has way more talent than a flash in the pan conchita, her game has no imagination nor aura, her win of Martina at Wimbledon is a paradox of the ages. conchita's ugly game all around is one best left forgotten. Arantxa is the greatest Spanish player ever, man or woman. conchita's rank is around Hanika, Shriver, O'Neill, Ruzici, one to be forgotten.

Rubbish! It takes guts,stamina AND a game-plan to win Wimbledon.Conchita took Navratilova apart in 94 and worked hard to reach the final.She is one of the greats,despite her lack of major wins.

I remember this was big news in Spain at the time. A new star had been born; pity she just lacked the mental strength Arantxa Sánchez had, since she was the most talented of the two. That Wimbledon victory did her justice.

I agree with you. I also think Conchita is the more talented one of the two, but she always lacks the confidence and mental toughness she could beat some great opponents, such as Graf and Seles.

The beggining Conchita in WTA tour (she became professional in 1988) against Sabatini. Very good last game of the match. Gabriela is a great player, but Conchita won there by far.
