I agree. I know many guys that claim to curl 80 lbs dumbbells or more. When I ask them to do this Dumbbell Concentration Curl, they can barely do 40 lbs. Heavy weight curls on youtube are basically guys swinging, yanking straight up, flipping the weights, etc...

It will not stunt your growth if you're careful. The whole idea of weightlifting stunting your growth is an urban myth. But you could easily damage your body for life if you're not careful in the way you lift.

the only thing that stunts growth is breaking a bone. Because the same cells used to help you grow are being used to repair your broken bone. How do i know that? Hah, my stupid self broke my collar bone twice and quite a few other bones in my hands/kneecap/legs, in sports-- I'm asian, 5'9 should be a good 5'11 if I didn't break anything... soo my advice--- play safe kids, and train well, AND EFFICIENTLY.

It's hard to demonstrate good form with heavier weight. Besides, nearly all of my clients use 20lbs or 25lbs for concentration. It's much more difficult than hammer curling 50lbs.

Around 15-16 most kids are biologically ready to handle weight training. Before weights,it is better to improve your skills and fitness level doing sports(martial arts, basketball, swimming, track n field, cycling etc) to improve neural and muscular adaption, increase speed, strength and body balance.
