Being a theologian would be too easy. All you gotta do to be a "scholar" in theology is interpret holy books and words and traditions the right way and come up with "revolutionary" new ideas and books. It's not like studying science or political science where facts actually matter. It's not like math where facts stay facts no matter what. Theology can come up with 2+2=5 or 6 or even 10!

Theology- what a joke. Creating an entire academic discipline based on lies, unhistorical, disproven and unprovable bullshit. Only a moron would do that. Anyone who's a theology "professor" doesn't get respect from me. Anyone can be a fucking theologian! All you have to do is memorize a bunch of holy texts and stories and crap like that over and over and over. And learn the "right way" to interpret. It's all very subjective. There's not an ounce of empiricism. Just get rid of it.

You guys are being so pissy. I'm a liberal (a socialist, actually) and a believer. I'm a Jew. I believe in God. I also think that only hard, imperical science should be taught in the classroom. There is nothing about being a Christian that makes someone inherently intelligent or inherently stupid. It's entirely possible to be an intelligent, rational, religious person. It's also entirely possible to be a devout nutjob and use faith as a basis for a witch burning, a pogrom, or a terrorist attack.
