Klaus Thomsen with a Synesso

Back



As the current World Barista Champion, Klaus Thomsen, certainly draws a crowd with his knowledge, technique and ability to make the perfect cup of coffee. Watch in particular his 'Stockfleth' technique of coffee distribution and relatively low dosing level (by Australian standards). Bear in mind Klaus jumped straight on this machine 'cold' so every shot wasn't up to his usual impeccable standards.

I find it interesting that he doesn't take advantage of the preinfusion feature of the Synesso.

Thomsen dosed different amounts each time, levelling each with a modified Stockfleth's move . The last dose which yielded the "perfekt" shots had Thomsen shaving off the mountain into the bin. I'm sure he realised the shots at the 4 minute mark was too fast. However, maybe the camera was in the way, hampering him from turning off the water.

jmhere07, i don't believe she forgot to tamp her shots. Its quite obvious that the video has been edited at the very point where she would have proceeded to pack her coffee. Perhaps you and the producer of the film may not see this as a necessary procedure to produce a good shot however, if you could name a single WBC that does not tamp their coffee, i'd like to hear of them.

yer i see your point and i dont now anyone that dosent tamp there coffee i only 14 so im new to it all im only just saying im not covinced with his skill lol yer and i no the vids edited and i think his shots were too warterly to me

Please tell me you are joking Mr. Thomsen, World Barista Champion! You're shots are wildly inconsistent! At the four minute mark of the clip, the shot was yellow, spiraling, fast flowing, and only 20 seconds. Thumbs up? No! Thumbs down. The next one also spiraled, was tight flowing, and over 30 seconds! I'm sure it was just the video feed or the camera Mr. World Champ!

true true...but then again hes got the badge and neither of us do...so what does it matter...his lead up procedure was very consistent though...
