BackStephen Wiltshire has been called the "Human Camera." In this short excerpt from the film Beautiful Minds: A Voyage into the Brain, Wiltshire takes a helicopter journey over Rome and then draws a panoramic view of what he saw, entirely from memory.

Ah man, rofl. $h1+, that's something, no one would ever forget! I'm sorry, that must've been dangerous and scary, but atleast we can laugh about it now, huh? But I see what you mean, before. Autistic people pay attention to some things, and other people pay attention to other things. And one thing is for sure, this dude can pay attention, alright.

I'd be like, "1 column,2 column, 3....Ralllpphhh" and puke all over every where.

i mean like, if you were flying in that helicopter, what would you pay attention to? the dome? would u consider the columbs? would you ignore all the street lamps and people? I'm saying that he has a great memory, but its very scattered and like the tiny stuff that holds no significance and may even reserve brain power to those unimportant details than the much fewer big landmarks.

From up there, to me, everything is a fine detail.

hmm, maybe he is so good because his brain focuses on the fine details rather than the obvious ones, makes for a greatly detailed memory with lots of stimuli, but the drawback may be not enough focus on the big stuff we normally pay the only attention to.

Amazing feat. Most people have difficulty visualing a quantity of 7 at most (seeing it without having to count). Now imagine visualizing quantities of 1000's, and with perspective obscurities. He must have had some previous knowledge, explaining how on one of the buildings, the dome was inaccurate (the easiest thing to see and in clear view), but the # of columns were correct. No doubt, an incredible feat of memory and drawing, no less, which I would be incapable of.

I'd like to read about that project.
