Ok, all those bands are great, but by 1976, a lot of people were saying rock had completely sold out. So then you had the influx of punk music created by the Sex Pistols, and immediately backed up by the Clash, the Ramones, and Patti Smith. These grunge bands had more in common with punk than stadium rock. Don't tell me about the 70's, brother.
