Don McLean - The meaning of American Pie (UPDATE)
BackThis is a revision to previously posted videos. I was fortunate enough to go to the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake IA and speak firsthand with many who were there including Tommy Allsup who flipped the coin with Ritchie Valens. This version corrects some factual errors and includes new footage from the SURF

It was true at the time. "If I had said television is more popular than Jesus, I might have got away with it..." - John Lennon.

Hi, from Spain.
Best essay book in Spain this year was writted by Juan Luis Pardo. The book is tytled "This is not music" (in spanish "Esto no es música"), and the author makes a sociological comment of the 20Th century based on the Beatles "Sargeant Pepper´s" and in...American Pie.
The book is a must, probably would become a classic. I don´t know if you can find a translation, but if you read spanish and you like Rock&Roll, to read this book is a must.
Best Regards

Thank you lonestarsound for making this video.
Although I'm only 20, after seeing this video, and hearing this song, I feel like I've just experienced one of the greatest era of rock.
Thank you again!

I heard somewhere that the line "the jester on the sideline in a cast" was a reference to bob dylan and how he once had a motorcyle accident during this time period.
I never bothered to look it up to see if he reall did have an accident during this time, I'm not a bob dylan fan anyway. just another interpretation of the song I wanted to share.
