what good would this be to a draftsman like me my boss seems to think its great and i don't really get whats so great as i have never even seen one before he asked me to look them up and LEARN ALL ABOUT THEM... i am simple draftsman dabbling in photo editing with GIMP... its his money so what should i tell him to get and why?

well it depends on what kind he's interested in. like with the Wacom Cintiq you can see what you are drawing on the tablet, but it is expensive, ranging from $1000 - $2000. the less expensive ones are good too, but it might be a little difficult to draw neatly because you have to look at the screen to see what you are drawing. these can range from $50 - $400. Wacom is a good choice of tablet brand. Sorry if that wasn't clear or helpful! :)
