Segway inventor Dean Kamen is looking to re-invent the prosthetic arm. IEEE Spectrum caught up with Kamen and one of his "test pilots," to see the robotic arm (named after Luke Skywalker's articficial limb) in action.

A bet after a few weeks of practice, your mind just assimilates it, and all the little foot switches and controls just become second nature. Too fucking cool.

Modular - does that mean that there are options for awesome attachments? like drills, guns, swords, etc?? Man, if i were and amputee, I'd try to add all sorts of cool shit to my luke arm....

I think all military amputees need them. Even the new ones, they sacrificed their bodies and lives for their country. I think they deserve it.
