Believe it or not, I played trombone in that concert! Talk about coincidence. When they tour, they use pick-up bands for their back-up groups (but use a core rhythm section). You probably don't remember the 2nd trombone player from that concert. :) That was a fun, fun gig.

Im really not sure how to feel about this. My feelings about writing words to instrumental tunes are completely mixed. The NY voices do it, and are really good at it for the most part, but it also seems kind of blasphemist.

WHOA! Impressive vocals on a classic Clifford Brown chart. I first heard kurt elling take instrumental charts and put words with the head and solos. That was a treat :)
