About the tuning thing. No one is saying that Drop D is out of tune, they're saying that it doesn't sound right (which this song does when you look at the notes that are played).
And speaking as someone who plays this song a lot, the guitar inevitably gets out of tune, when all you do for most of the song is hammer on two strings. It just happens. That being said, not vocally strong here.
