sammyharr when this book was written 1984 was still in the future. It was not meant to tell you what had happened but rather what is going to happen or what could happen. It is amazingly accurate. The only thing that might be a little of was the choice of the date 1984. But then Orwell could not be expected to pick out exactly when this may happen. It is impressive enough that he has rather accurately predicted that it will. Be not deceived. I am out there and I am watching you. Big Brother

I read this book, both Chinese and English version,and am very happy I can find this video on youtube. Perhaps it has something to do with ideology but I don't think that's the main point the author concern.Maybe its of something like human's nature? I'm not sure,but I do believe human must keep vigilant on autarchy.

George Orwell is a fucking Genius. I read 1984 and just completed reading Animal farm, and it is, from a perspective historicaly, it is just plain brilliance. Goin down as the greatest thinker in the 20th Century if you ask me.
