Medvedev is new Russian president - 7 May 2008

Dmitry Medvedev has been inaugurated as Russia's president, taking over from Vladimir Putin, who was soon afterwards nominated the country's prime minister. Medvedev took the oath of office in an inauguration ceremony on Wednesday at Andreyevsky Hall in Moscow, becoming Russia's third president since the end of the Soviet era. Jonah Hull reports.

True, but I think it will take 11-15 years for Russia to become the strongest economy in Europe. And you are right, USA won't even be able to compete with Russia. USA's GDP is 13 trillions but their debt is 10! If you count their real wealth, they are poorer then Russia today. Plus USA has no resources and Russia has 55% of all world's resources. Arctic may become Russian too soon.

putin the savior for russia???, russia is run by rich billionaries,and the economy is run by organized crime, the federal goverment is corrupt, life mortailty rate for russia is worest, population is going down the drain by a million a year, affordable housing, vast russianslive in poverty. putins depends on oil prices to run his regime, without that he would fall and another revolution.

Where did you get all this rubbish? Housing is alot more affordable here than in US and the quality of it is a lot superior. I have been to the US. It seems as you've just read 10/15 year old papers published in DC mate. Wake up We offer lower prices in our hotels to americans because of the decline of your currency and they go for it. Only for you!

Hold on, people. This is more simple when it seems. As a russian sitzen, i seen all process from the beginning. Yes. Medvedev have no real power yet. He is really a "Putin's proxy server" :) But this is not something new. All people knew it from the beginning. We really WANT him to be a marionette. Putin said: if you want same policy as i did - vote for Medvedev. We did. That's it. Because stupid constitution not allows president to work for 3 times in a row.

a puppet, he has no power to make his own decisions without having to kiss putin's kgb ass, what a shame. russian government new dictatorship. putin plans to weaken the president powers and keeep power.
