If I recall correctly the sign on of the time showed the guy turning on the same light.

That last bit right after SSB is a tad freaky, esp. the button press and the MCO turning off the light. Was there a test pattern or total shutdown after this?

I have seen this particular sign-off. KHQ would do either a static station ID or a computer generated ID, then the carrier was cut.
