McCain, Republicans Want Welfare for Anti-Evolutionists?
BackWhen Republican governor and possible John McCain Vice Presidential running mate Bobby Jindal came out in favor of teaching "Intelligent Design" in Louisiana's science classrooms on CBS's "Face The Nation" last Sunday, it reminded me of John McCain's similar nonsensical position on teaching "Intelligent Design" which I criticize using clips from biologist Kenneth Miller appearing this last week with Stephen Colbert and on NPR. You can see Gov. Bobby Jindal's full appearance on CBS's "Face the Nation" from which I took a short clip for my video at http://www.cbsnews.com/sections/i_video/main500251.shtml?id=4181783n You can see the entire May 3, 2007, GOP presidential candidate debate on MSNBC from which I took a short clip for my video at http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/18474901#18474901 You can see the full June 16, 2008, episode of Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report" from which I took short clips of the Kenneth Miller interview for my video at http://www.comedycentral.com/colbertreport/videos.jhtml?episodeId=173099 You can hear the entire June 13, 2008, interview of Kenneth Miller on NPR's "Talk of the Nation" from which I took a short clip for my video at http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=91483941 And, you can see the expert witness statement that Kenneth Miller submitted in the ACLU's successful case against the teaching of "Intelligent Design" in Pennsylvania's public school science classes, Kitzmiller v Dover, at http://www.aclu.org/evolution/statements/miller.pdf

The ordinary person consists of beliefs that he has accepted without questioning and to which he is firmly attached; he is instinctively hostile to anything that would upset the established order of this familiar world. A new idea, inconsistent with some of the beliefs that he holds, means the necessity of rearranging his mind, requiring a painful expenditure of brain energy., new ideas that cast doubt on established beliefs, but not the end of faith, but a new way to look at the world.

Be fair to Asia. The Shinto and Buddhist fascism of WW2 was horrible as well. Ask the Manchurians.

It is so small that it can be only seen through the eyes of an atheist.

Christianity, Islam and Judaism are the worst things that happened to human society.

"We would be 1,500 years ahead if it hadn't been for the church dragging science back by its coattails and burning our best minds at the stake." - Catherine Fahringer
religion relies on keeping you stupid, so that it can control you. Science does not require faith, if a theory is wrong a different scientist will discredit it, just like intelligent design. That is the scientific process: severe scrutiny and review by peers. Creation=blind faith in something with no evidence to support it.
THINK!!
fernfaerie (Sunday 5th of October 2008 03:55:42 AM)
We know a lot more than we did back then, and to think that a solid scientific theory which has stood up to scrutiny and scientific peer review for so long could be completely wrong is not likely. You are obviously not a scientist. There is a word for people who "like to think simple": IDIOT or CHRISTIAN

I like your argument. You dont know how many times Creationists have told me that Evolution is not an exact science because it is not falsifiable. I have heard many examples, but I can never think of one at the moment, it's like I'm stunned by their stupidity. Obviously creation is not falsifiable, but they never like it when you bring up that point.
